Introduction
In order to provide notice of an intended fireworks display, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Place a public notice in a local newspaper at least 10 days prior to the event to advise people when and where the display is to be held
- Submit this form at least 10 days prior to the planned display
Why do I need to fill it in?
You must complete this form if you are planning a fireworks display unless you are exempt. Completion of the form is required by law under the Fireworks Act 2004, available here.
Failure to provide accurate, true and complete notice is a breach of the legal requirement under the Fireworks Act 2004 and may result in prosecution which could carry a fine of up to £2,500.
When should I submit it?
You must submit this form at least 10 days prior to the planned fireworks display.
Exemptions
Notification is not required on specific dates at certain times each year. The Calendar of permissible dates is available here.
Organisations such as charities can apply to become exempt from providing prior notice to hold a fireworks display outside the prescribed dates and from the requirement to advertise in a newspaper. Any organisation wanting to apply for exemption must satisfy a number of criteria and their request has to be approved by Tynwald.
